
SRINAGAR: Counting for the two Jammu and Kashmir bypoll seats is underway, with early trends placing the National Conference ahead in Budgam and the Bharatiya Janata Party in the lead in Nagrota.
In Budgam, NC candidate Aga Syed Mehmood has polled 1,152 votes, followed by PDP’s Muntazir Mehdi with 528 votes and AIP-backed candidate Nazir Ahmad Khan with 508 votes. Independent candidate Jibran Dar has secured 208 votes.
In Nagrota, BJP’s Devyani Rana is leading with 2,477 votes, while Panthers Party leader Harshdev Singh has 1,366 votes. NC candidate Shamim Begum has received 1,110 votes.
Further rounds of counting are underway.
