Woman Held with 421 Grams of Charas in Awantipora – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: Awantipora Police on Sunday apprehended a woman during a naka checking operation at Padgampora and recovered 421 grams of charas from her possession.

According to a police statement, the operation was carried out under the supervision of the SDPO Awantipora. During routine checking, officers noticed a woman moving suspiciously from Padgampora towards Awantipora. On spotting the police party, she attempted to flee but was swiftly intercepted and detained.

The woman was later identified as Rubeena, wife of Ashiq Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Zahidpora Hawal, near Halwai Masjid, Srinagar. A search led to the recovery of ten sticks of charas-like substance weighing 421 grams.

The contraband was seized on the spot under proper legal formalities, and the accused was taken into custody.

In this connection, FIR No. 245/2025 has been registered at Police Station Awantipora under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
