Seven-Day Deadline Issued for Submission of Credentials
Kupwara: The District Information Centre (DIC) Kupwara has launched a comprehensive verification drive for media persons operating in the district, directing all journalists to submit their credentials within seven days. The move aims to curb the misuse of media identity and ensure that only genuine journalists are recognized for official engagements.
According to Circular No. INF/DIC/K 1120-23/2025 dated November 3, 2025, issued under the instructions of the Joint Director Information, Kashmir, all media personnel are required to furnish their details and credentials as per a prescribed checklist to the District Information Officer (DIO) Kupwara within the stipulated period.
The initiative, officials said, seeks to uphold the integrity of the profession by preventing impersonation and promoting accountability among media representatives. Only validated and duly authenticated journalists will henceforth be allowed to attend official functions, press conferences, and cover VIP or VVIP visits within the district.
The circular explicitly states that unauthorized or unverified individuals will not be permitted to participate in any official communication or event. Copies of the order have been forwarded to the District Magistrate Kupwara, Director Information & PR J&K, Senior Superintendent of Police Kupwara/Handwara, and the Joint Director Information Kashmir for necessary compliance.
