Sakina Itoo Refutes BJP Claims of Bias Against Jammu Region in Assembly

SRINAGAR: Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo on Tuesday dismissed allegations by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators that the Omar Abdullah-led government was discriminating against the Jammu region, asserting that all areas of Jammu Kashmir are treated equally.

The minister’s remarks came during an Assembly session after BJP MLA Shakti Parihar accused the government of sidelining Jammu in the Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) of several departments.

Rejecting the charge, Itoo urged the BJP legislator to withdraw his statement, saying, “We treat every region equally. There is no discrimination under the Omar Abdullah government.” She accused the BJP members of making misleading claims for political mileage.
