15 Driving Licences Suspended in South Kashmir’s Anantnag

SRINAGAR: As part of an ongoing road safety enforcement drive, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Anantnag Mubashir Jan conducted extensive vehicle inspections across the district on Friday, resulting in the suspension of 15 driving licences under Section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

As part of the ongoing road safety enforcement drive, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Anantnag today conducted comprehensive vehicle inspections at multiple locations across the district.

A total of 159 vehicles were checked during the operation. Several vehicles were found operating in violation of safety standards, including the use of worn-out tyres, defective brakes, and overloading, it reads.

Acting strictly under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the ARTO suspended 15 driving licences under Section 19 for repeated and serious violations affecting road safety, it reads.

Statement reads, drivers were counseled on the importance of maintaining their vehicles in roadworthy condition. Vehicle owners were also advised to ensure timely replacement of tyres and adherence to all Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) to avoid future action.

The ARTO emphasized that such drives will continue in the coming days to ensure compliance with road safety norms across Anantnag district, it reads. (KNC)
