Jammu Kashmir: Mother, Son Killed in Punjab Road Accident

SRINAGAR: A woman and her four-year-old son from Jammu Kashmir were killed, while two other family members sustained injuries after their car hit a divider and rammed into a tree near Uchi Bassi village in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district on Wednesday, as per Daily Excelsior report.

The deceased have been identified as Meera Manhas and her son Hariansh, both of whom died on the spot, police said.

According to police, the family, residents of Jammu was travelling to Rajasthan’s Khatu Shyam temple when the driver, Shakti Singh, reportedly lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid a stray dog on the Jalandhar–Pathankot National Highway.

The car veered off course, struck the road divider, and crashed into a roadside tree, resulting in the fatal accident.

Shakti Singh and his three-year-old daughter Tamanna were injured in the mishap and have been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Dasuya, police added.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident.
