Yashwant Sinha-led Delegation Meets Mirwaiz Umar

SRINAGAR: A high-level delegation of the Concerned Citizens’ Group (CCG) headed by former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha met Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq at his Nigeen residence in Srinagar on Saturday to deliberate on issues related to peace, dialogue, and public welfare in Jammu and Kashmir.

The delegation comprised Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Kapil Kak, senior journalist Bharat Bhushan, and social activist Sushobha Barve. Officials said the meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, with discussions centred on the need for sustained engagement among various stakeholders and addressing humanitarian concerns, including the plight of political detainees and everyday public hardships.

During the interaction, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq lauded the CCG’s ongoing efforts and expressed gratitude for its consistent concern for the people of Jammu Kashmir. He reiterated that dialogue, empathy, and mutual understanding were essential to achieving lasting peace and reconciliation in the region.

Both sides emphasised the importance of continued outreach and communication to foster trust, strengthen societal harmony, and build a conducive atmosphere for long-term peace and stability in Jammu Kashmir.
