Workshop on ‘Rejuvenation of Water Bodies and Water’ held in Kupwara

Kupwara, Jun 26: Mission Directorate Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) JK in collaboration with district administration Kupwara and Piramal Foundation today organised a workshop on ëRejuvenation of water bodies and water quality in Kupwara districtí at Conference Hall D.C Office Complex Kupwara.

The workshop was jointly chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan and Mission Director JJM J&K, Khursheed Ahmad Shah.

The workshop was attended by Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Kupwara, Er. Shakeel ur Rahman; ACD Kupwara, Muzaffar Ahmad; Engineers from Jal Shakti department Kupwara, officers from Agriculture, Forest, Horticulture and Rural Development department.

DC in her address expressed gratitude to the department for their efforts to extend piped drinking water facilities to the remote areas of the district. She said from being less connected with the tap water supply connection, the district has about 80% Functional Household Tap Connection now to supply the clean drinking water to the people. She expressed hope that the rest of the unconnected households will also be connected with FHTC soon.

She also mentioned the current water related challenges which need to be addressed by the department in coordination with various stakeholders for the success of the ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission.

On the occasion, MD JJM highlighted the efforts of the department in execution of works under the Jal Jeevan Mission to achieve the targets set by the government.

Senior Program Manager, Ayush Sharma from Piramal foundation highlighted major challenges in addressing the water supply issues in rural areas and their possible solutions.
