Baramulla, Aug 8: Women’s College Baramulla lifted the title of the 3rd edition of the Girls’ Volleyball Tournament – 2025.
As per statement issued the tournament was organised by 53 BN CRPF at Indoor Stadium Khoja Bagh Baramulla as part of their civic action programme.
As many as eight teams from different districts of Kashmir participated in the tournament. The final match was played between the team from Government Degree College Shopian and Government Women’s College Baramulla.
DIG North Kashmir CRPF Raghuvansh Kumar was the chief guest at the occasion.
Sadaf Manzoor of Women’s College Baramulla was awarded best player of the tournament.
The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 15000 along with a trophy and medals, while the runner-up team got a cash prize of Rs 10000 and a trophy, besides a medal and certificate for each player.
Talking to reporters, Deputy Inspector General of CRPF Raghuvansh Kumar said that sports and other outreach activities organised by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bridge the gap between the public and the security forces.
He said these initiatives are taken for the upliftment of the youth and to establish a relationship with them.
“Organising sports activities and other outreach programmes builds trust in the people towards the forces. This volleyball tournament was part of the series of activities we do for youth. We send youth on tour to different states to give them exposure and knowledge about the whole of India,” he said.
He said organising sports events provides an opportunity for the youth, including boys and girls, to showcase their talent and potential in sports.
“Such activities fill the gap between the forces and the people. This is a very good initiative. It has created good faith among people,” he said.
