Woman Lawyer, Husband Among 3 Booked in Fake IED Conspiracy Case – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: Baramulla Police have uncovered a conspiracy involving a woman lawyer, her husband, and an accomplice to falsely implicate her former husband by planting a fake Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at his residence in Tangmarg.

According to officials, on July 31, 2025, Police Station Tangmarg received information about an IED allegedly concealed at the residence of Manzoor Ahmed Khan, son of Mohammad Ayoub Khan, a resident of Mahayan Ferozpora. Acting swiftly, Tangmarg Police, with the assistance of security agencies, launched a cordon and search operation. A suspicious package was recovered near the main gate of the house, which, upon inspection by the bomb disposal squad, was confirmed to be a non-explosive device fabricated to resemble an IED.

Following the recovery, FIR No. 56/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Tangmarg, and investigation was initiated. During the probe, Sajad Ahmed Ganie, son of Mohammad Qasim Ganie and a resident of Nowgam Sumbal, was identified as the individual who had planted the fake device. He was later apprehended and, during interrogation, confessed to executing the act at the behest of Advocate Rahila Qadri, estranged ex-wife of the house owner, and her present husband, Advocate Rayees Ahmed Bhat, both residents of Pandithpora Tangmarg.

Investigations have established that due to a prolonged matrimonial dispute, Advocate Rahila Qadri conspired with her husband to falsely implicate her ex-husband in a fabricated explosives case. Their associate not only planted the fake IED but also provided misleading information to police in an attempt to frame the victim.

Police have served notices to all three accused, stating that the case will be pursued to its logical conclusion before the competent court of law.
