SRINAGAR: A woman was injured after being attacked by a group of stray dogs in the Churmujra area of Beerwah in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday, triggering fear and concern among the inhabitants of the locality.

According to locals, the woman sustained injuries when several stray dogs attacked her while she was moving through the area. She was immediately rushed for medical treatment and later referred from Sub District Hospital Beerwah to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for further care.

The incident has caused panic among inhabitants, particularly women, children and elderly persons, who said that moving freely in the area has become increasingly unsafe due to the growing stray dog population. Locals said incidents of dog bites have been reported frequently, adding to the sense of insecurity.

They urged the district administration and municipal authorities to take immediate and concrete steps to address the issue. [KNT]
