
Police in Awantipora apprehended a woman during naka checking at Padgampora and recovered 421 grams of charas from her possession.
A Police Spokesperson said that Police Awantipora, under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora, during naka checking at Padgampora, noticed a woman moving suspiciously from Padgampora towards Awantipora. On seeing the police party, she tried to flee from the spot but was tactfully apprehended.
On questioning, the woman disclosed her identity as Rubeena, wife of Ashiq Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Zahidpora Hawal, near Halwai Masjid, Srinagar.
Upon her personal search, ten sticks of a charas-like substance weighing 421 grams were recovered from her possession, the statement reads.
The recovered contraband was seized on the spot under a proper seizure memo, and the accused has been arrested, it said.
In this regard, Case FIR No. 245/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, and investigation has been set into motion, reads the statement. (KNC)
