At the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson & Executive Editor-in-Chief of the India Today Group, spoke with Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on India’s economic trajectory. Vaishnaw asserted that India will become the world’s third-largest economy within the next few years, calling it a certainty driven by a decade of structural reforms. He outlined four growth pillars—public investment, inclusive growth, manufacturing and innovation, and simplification—backed by technology-led execution. The minister projected sustained 6–8% real growth with moderate inflation, while flagging global debt risks as a key external concern.
