Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari backs protesting locals; says, the land will be defended at any cost
Srinagar, April 2: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday voiced his full support for the residents of Gulzarpora Rawalpora in Srinagar, where the government is attempting to take over a piece of land currently used as a playground by local youth for the construction of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) project.
Mr. Bukhari today visited the site along with several party colleagues to show support for the local residents who are protesting the government’s move to take over the playground for STP project.

“We will not let this happen. This land belongs to our youth, and we will defend it at any cost,” asserted Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari while speaking to reporters.
“I do not understand why it is always this (Chanapora) constituency where the administration tries to take over playgrounds, leaving the young population vulnerable to the menace of drugs and other negative activities. We will not allow this to happen. I assure the people that I stand with them like a rock and will do everything required to safeguard the interests of our youth,” He said.
Indicating his intention to fight even legally for the protection of Gulzarpora Rawalpora’s playground, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said, “The piece of land measuring 24 kanals and 12 marlas that the government is attempting to take over for the STP is not a government land but ‘Shamilat Deh’, which, under revenue rules, is considered milkiyati land meant for the common use of the concerned village. Therefore, we have a legal right to defend this piece of land, and we will defend it at any cost.”
On this occasion, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari was accompanied by party’s Media Advisor and Panelist Farooq Andrabi, Constituency In-charge Chanapora and Provincial Secretary Kashmir Mohammad Ashraf Dar, Constituency in-charge for Uri Choudhary Mushtaq, Provincial Organiser Bilal Ahmad Bhat, District Vice President Srinagar Dr Bilal Mir, Ward President Rawalpora Nazir Ahmad Dar, Ward President Hyderpora Muzaffar Ahmad Dar, Gulzarpora booth head Mohammad Amin Mir, Rawalpora Vice President Parray Yaseen, and others.
