SRINAGAR: The Virtual Traffic Court functioning under the office of the Special Mobile Magistrate Traffic Srinagar has recorded a significant achievement by disposing of more than two lakh challans and recovering fines exceeding seven crore rupees within a period of nearly fourteen months.

Official data shows that from September 2024 to November 17, 2025, the court presided over by Special Mobile Magistrate Traffic Srinagar, Touseef Ahmad Magray, disposed of a total of 2,10,117 challans. This figure is among the highest disposal counts recorded in the district’s traffic enforcement system.

During the same period, the court recovered fines amounting to Rs 7,07,06,850, indicating a sharp rise in compliance and successful adjudication under the virtual mechanism. Officials said the consistent pace of disposal reflects improved coordination between the judiciary and traffic enforcement agencies, besides increasing public awareness regarding online fine payments.

The virtual system, according to court authorities, has helped streamline case management by reducing delays and enabling swift processing of challans issued across Srinagar and adjoining areas. The initiative has also allowed violators to settle penalties without physically appearing before the court, easing the burden on both the judiciary and the public.

Special Mobile Magistrate Traffic Srinagar, Touseef Ahmad Magray, said the achievement was made possible due to the sustained efforts of the judicial staff and the traffic police. He added that locals have also shown greater responsibility in adhering to traffic rules and clearing fines promptly through online platforms.

He expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and urged continued compliance to ensure safer roads and disciplined traffic movement across Kashmir. [KNT]
