SRINAGAR: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has said that Urdu-language signboards have been installed at the centrally protected monuments under its Srinagar Circle.

In response to a grievance lodged by Syed Adil, an RTI activist from Ganderbal district in central Kashmir, through Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), the ASI has revealed that it has already included Urdu signage (cultural notice board) at the centrally protected monuments of its Srinagar circle.

“In fact, at many sites in Kashmir Valley, information in the form of cultural board are displayed in three languages (English, Hindi and Urdu) for people at large. Some of the texts are even provided since 2017,” Dr. Piyush Bhatt, Superintending Archaeologist said in response to the grievance.

The Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) is an online platform available to the citizens 24×7 to lodge their grievances to the public authorities on any subject related to service delivery. It is a single portal connected to all the ministries/departments of the government of India and states.

The Srinagar Circle of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) oversees 56 centrally protected monuments and sites across Jammu and Kashmir. This circle encompasses the entire Union Territory. (KNO)
