UPSC Notification Out For Assistant Drugs Controller, Botanist, And Junior Scientific Officer Posts

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited applications from eligible candidates for the posts of Assistant Drugs Controller, Botanist, and Junior Scientific Officer. A total of 24 vacancies have been announced for these posts in different departments.

As per the UPSC advertisement, the upper age limit ranges from 30 years to 40 years depending on the post and category. The selected candidates will be appointed in Level 7 to Level 11 pay scales under 7th CPC. Selection will be done through interview and document verification.

Eligibility Criteria:

1) Assistant Drugs Controller (Medical Devices): Candidates must have a Master’s degree in technology, engineering, pharmacy, or science related to biomedical or medical devices. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in similar fields with more years of experience is also accepted. The upper age limit is 40 years for UR/EWS, 43 for OBC, 45 for SC/ST, and 50 for PwBD candidates. Candidates must have 4 to 6 years of experience in manufacturing, quality control, or regulatory affairs in the field of medical devices.

2) Botanist: The required qualification is M.Sc. in Botany, Horticulture, Life Sciences, or Agriculture. The maximum age limit is 30 years. Candidates must have 3 years of experience in botanical research and handling preserved plant specimens.

3) Junior Scientific Officer: A Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Bacteriology, Medicine, or Biotechnology is required. Candidates must have 4 years of experience in drug testing or research. The upper age limit is 30 years.

The application fee for the recruitment process is structured according to categories. Applicants must pay the fee online through the payment gateway as mentioned in the official notification. Candidates (Except Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 25/-.

Selection Process:
The selection of candidates will be on the basis of the interview. In case of a large number of applications, UPSC may adopt shortlisting criteria such as higher qualifications or relevant experience before calling candidates for interview.
