Udhampur constable dismissed over involvement in NDPS case

Jammu, Apr 1: Police in Udhampur have dismissed a constable from service after a departmental enquiry found him involved in a narcotics case under the NDPS Act, officials said.

Taking stringent action against narcotics peddling and those involved in this criminal act, the police in Udhampur has dismissed a cop for his involvement in crime.

In an official statement, police informed that SSP Udhampur has dismissed Constable Arjun Sharma (No. 886/U, PID No. EXJ-126992) from service with immediate effect for his involvement in a narcotics-related case.

Police said that the action has been taken after a departmental enquiry in connection with case FIR No. 170/2025 under the NDPS Act of Police Station Rehmban.

” Investigation and enquiry established that the official was apprehended during naka checking by the Police team of Police Post Tikri and contraband heroin was recovered from his possession, later confirmed by FSL.” said police.

The misconduct was found to be grave and unbecoming of a police official and after due process, including a show cause notice, the reply submitted was found unsatisfactory, police further said.

Accordingly, in the exercise of powers under Rule 359 of the J&K Police Rule, the official has been dismissed from service.

” District Police Udhampur reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards drug involvement and remains committed to maintaining public trust.” statement reads.
