Banihal, Jul 30: A tragic incident unfolded this morning in the Sanasar area of Ramban district, where two government teachers from Udhampur district were swept away by flash floods while riding a motorcycle on the Nathatop–Sanasar road.
According to the police, a blue-colored motorcycle (JK-14D/9667) was found lying by the roadside at Jalebi Morh around 9:30 am on Wednesday, prompting a search operation.
Police teams led by SHO Vijay Kotwal and DSP Omparkash (Ramban), along with SDRF personnel, rushed to the spot and launched a search downstream.
The bodies of the two teachers were recovered approximately 150 and 300 meters from the link road, where they were swept away by the sudden surge of water.
The deceased have been identified as Jagdev Singh and Sanjay Kumar, both residents of Ghordi tehsil in Ramnagar, Udhampur district. They were serving as government teachers in Udhampur and had been attending a three-day training session at DIET Kud, which began on July 29.
They were last seen heading toward Sanasar on Tuesday evening, when the area experienced rainfall.
The bodies are being shifted to Batote Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
