Two Children Killed, One Critical in Tractor Accident in Karnah, Kupwara – Alfaaz – The Words

Kupwara: Two minor children lost their lives and another sustained critical injuries after a tractor hit them at Taad village in the Karnah area of Kupwara district on Tuesday.

Officials said the tractor, bearing registration number JK09B 4871 and driven by Azhar Ahmad, son of Mohammad Rafi, a resident of Taad, struck three children under circumstances that are being investigated.

Local residents immediately shifted the injured children to Sub District Hospital Tangdhar. Doctors declared two children dead on arrival. The third child was admitted in a critical condition.

The deceased were identified as Arzoo Bashir, daughter of Bashir Ahmad Qureshi, aged about seven years, and Azan Sajad Qureshi, son of Sajad Ahmad Qureshi, aged about eight years. Both were residents of Taad village.

The injured child was identified as Shahnaz Ahmad Mughal, son of Muneer Ahmad Mughal, aged about nine years, also a resident of the same village.

Police reached the scene soon after the incident, took cognizance of the matter, and registered a case. An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the accident.

The incident has left the area in shock and mourning. Further details are awaited.
