SRINAGAR: Police in north kashmir’s Baramulla district has issued a safety advisory after an unauthorized trekking incident was reported in the Danwas forest area of Tangmarg on December 21, 2025.

The advisory, issued in the interest of public safety, lays down fresh restrictions for movement in the upper forest reaches of Tangmarg to prevent security-related misunderstandings and avoid any untoward incidents.

According to the notice, local residents intending to enter the upper forest areas must obtain the requisite permissions from local authorities and inform the police or the local administration prior to their movement.

For non-local tourists, trekking and entry into the upper Tangmarg forest reaches have been strictly prohibited under all circumstances until further orders.

Baramulla Police has appealed to the public to cooperate with the instructions, emphasizing that the measures are aimed at ensuring safety, maintaining a secure environment, and preventing any security misinterpretations in sensitive forest zones.

The police further urged trekkers and adventure enthusiasts to follow authorized routes and guidelines issued by the administration to avoid untoward situations. (KDC)
