SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday announced that dialysis facilities at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Tral in Pulwama district will be operational within the next two months.

Replying to MLA Rafiq Ahmad Naik, Health Minister Sakina Itoo said the government is committed to strengthening dialysis services across all SDHs and CHCs, aiming to cover all facilities within two years.

“The Dialysis Unit at SDH Tral has been prioritised in the first phase and is in the final stage of completion. The infrastructure cost is estimated at Rs 37.80 lakh for machinery, RO plant, and power backup systems, in addition to civil works,” the Minister said.

She added that while the unit is technically ready, pending installation of an online UPS and allied equipment by the executing agency, JKM and HED, is being expedited to ensure operationalisation at the earliest.

Minister Itoo also confirmed that trained manpower is in place to run the dialysis unit immediately once power-related works are completed.

Regarding the Ophthalmic Unit’s Phacoemulsification machine, Itoo noted procurement challenges in the previous financial year and assured that attempts will continue in 2026-27, subject to fund availability.
