SRINAGAR: The District Administration Budgam on Monday intensified its enforcement drive against illegal brick kilns, dismantling three unauthorised units in Mulshulla village of Beerwah Tehsil as part of a broader campaign to curb environmental violations.
Officials said the units were operating without mandatory authorisation and were found contributing significantly to air pollution, posing health risks to residents and degrading agricultural land by rendering it barren. The administration reiterated that no illegal activity would be permitted at the cost of public health, ecological safety or agricultural sustainability.
Authorities have urged all owners of unauthorised brick kilns to voluntarily dismantle their structures, warning that strict legal and enforcement action will follow in cases of non-compliance.
The operation was supervised on the ground by SDM Beerwah, Toufeeq Gazi, accompanied by the Tehsildar Beerwah, SDPO Magam and other civil and police officials, ensuring smooth execution and adherence to legal procedures.
Local residents welcomed the action and called for continued enforcement to protect public health and the environment.
The Budgam administration affirmed that sustained, coordinated operations will continue across all tehsils to curb illegal brick kiln activity and safeguard the district’s environmental and agricultural resources.
