
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday have arrested three drug peddlers in Sopore and Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Sopore, a police party conducting naka checking at Aftab Mohallah, Warpora intercepted two suspicious individuals who attempted to flee but were apprehended. During a search, a Charas-like substance was recovered. The accused were identified as Ghulam Nabi Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, and Aabid Hussain War, son of Mohammad Afzal War, both residents of Warpora, Sopore.
In Awantipora, a police party at Reshipora, led by the In-Charge of the Police Post under the supervision of SHO PS Awantipora, intercepted a suspicious individual. Officers recovered 630 grams of Charas-like powder from his possession. He was identified as Abdul Qayoom Beig, son of Ali Mohammad Beig, resident of Beigpora.
All three accused have been taken into custody at their respective police stations. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the source of the drugs and any wider networks involved.
Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urged the public to cooperate by sharing information to help eliminate the drug menace.
