
SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Budgam district have apprehended three absconders who had been evading arrest for years from various locations across Jammu Kashmir.
According to officials, acting on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam, Nikhil Borkar, special police teams led by jurisdictional officers launched coordinated operations that led to the successful arrests.
Police said that Paramjeet Singh, son of Narayan Singh of Dardpora, Baramulla, was arrested by Police Station Budgam. He had been wanted in FIR No. 381/1981 under Sections 279 and 337 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) and had been absconding since 1984.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Iqbal Bhat, son of Ama Bhat of Takiya Rajpora, Pulwama, was arrested by Police Station Chadoora. He was wanted in FIR No. 05/2021 under Sections 8/15/29 of the NDPS Act and had been on the run since 2022.
Similarly, Police Station Khansahib arrested Bashir Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Nabi Lone of Sitharan, Khag, wanted in FIR No. 114/2012 under Sections 379 RPC and 6F Act, who had been absconding since 2024.
After completing all legal formalities, the arrested absconders were produced before the competent courts for further proceedings, police added.
