
SRINAGAR: A textile shop was severely damaged after a fire broke out in Sariabal late on Wednesday evening, officials said, adding that prompt action by the Fire and Emergency Services Department prevented the blaze from spreading and averted a major tragedy.
According to officials, a fire call was received at 9:54 pm, following which fire tenders from the Fire and Emergency Headquarters were immediately dispatched to the spot.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that a textile shop owned by Aijaz Ahmad Khan and operating under the name Bombay Textiles was engulfed in flames. The shop suffered severe damage in the incident, while one adjacent empty shop sustained partial damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No loss of life or injuries were reported.
