Tanvir Sadiq welcomes announcement of RS elections

Srinagar, Sep 24: National Conference Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq has welcomed the Election Commission of India’s announcement regarding the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

While addressing the media, Sadiq expressed his optimism about the elections, emphasising the critical need for strong representation of Jammu and Kashmir at the national level. He pointed out that this election will serve as a vital opportunity to ensure that the voices of the people in the region are heard and effectively represented in the country’s highest legislative body.

Sadiq underscored that the announcement is a crucial step toward further strengthening democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. “We are pleased that the Election Commission has finally announced the dates for the Rajya Sabha elections. This decision ensures that Jammu and Kashmir continues to have its say in the national discourse and plays an integral role in shaping the future of our country. It is important to note that during the recent Vice Presidential elections, the absence of a representative from Jammu and Kashmir in the Rajya Sabha was felt deeply. We hope this announcement will also pave the way for the timely announcement of by-elections for Nagrota and Budgam assembly constituencies,” Sadiq said.
