Kupwara: Senior Jammu and Kashmir Police Service officer Syed Al-Tahir Gilani on Friday assumed charge as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara, succeeding Ghulam Jeelani Wani.
Upon assuming office, SSP Gilani interacted with district police officers and staff, underscoring the importance of professionalism, dedication, and a people-centric approach in policing.
Gilani reiterated his commitment to maintaining peace and public order across the border district, strengthening police-community relations, and intensifying the fight against the drug menace and other social crimes.
Police personnel in Kupwara extended a warm welcome to the new SSP and assured full cooperation in advancing the mission of effective, accountable, and community-oriented policing.
The outgoing SSP, Ghulam Jeelani Wani, was given a warm farewell and appreciated for his service and contributions to maintaining law and order, especially for his decisive action against drug menace, during his tenure in the district.
