SRINAGAR: The Srinagar–Jammu National Highway was partially reopened on Sunday after remaining closed for more than two days due to heavy snowfall. Hundreds of vehicles had been stranded on the 270-kilometre highway since Friday when heavy snow forced its closure.

Officials said fresh snowfall in several parts of Kashmir, including Srinagar, Ganderbal and surrounding areas, on Sunday morning hampered snow-clearance operations along the highway.

“The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway has been partially restored. Priority is being given to clearing stranded vehicles between the Nashri and Navyug tunnels,” a Traffic Police official said.

Meanwhile, flight operations at Srinagar International Airport remained unaffected by the weather, with three flights having already arrived. “Flight operations are running normally,” an official of the Airports Authority of India said.

Rail services were also operating as per schedule, officials added.
