SRINAGAR: The district administration of Srinagar on Friday issued a public advisory urging residents to avoid non-essential movement and follow safety precautions in view of ongoing inclement weather and an adverse forecast.
According to the advisory issued by the District Magistrate’s office, intermittent light to moderate rainfall, along with snowfall in higher reaches, thunderstorms, and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph, is expected to persist across most parts of the district until the evening of April 4.
Authorities have cautioned people against unnecessary travel due to potential risks posed by the prevailing weather conditions.
Special warnings have also been issued for tourists, shikara operators, sand miners, and others operating near water bodies such as Dal Lake and Jhelum River, advising them to avoid venturing out or crossing without assessing safety conditions.
In case of emergencies, residents have been asked to contact the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) or the Police Control Room (PCR) for assistance.
The administration has appealed to the public to remain vigilant, take necessary precautions, and cooperate with authorities to ensure safety during the adverse weather period.
