Acting on reliable information regarding the concealment of narcotics by a suspected drug peddler, identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar, a resident of Tulkhan, police teams carried out a swift raid at his under-construction residential house.

During the search operation, officers recovered 104 grams of charas-like sticks along with cash amounting to Rs 25,50,000, which had been concealed beneath boulders on the ground floor of the structure.

Following the recovery, Case FIR No. 154/2026 under Section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered at the concerned police station, and investigation has been initiated. The accused has been arrested in connection with the case.

Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the wider network and possible linkages involved in the drug trade.

Reiterating its commitment to curbing drug trafficking, Anantnag Police stated that sustained efforts are being made to dismantle narcotics networks and urged the public to share information regarding drug-related activities to assist enforcement agencies.

Officials said the drive against drugs will continue with intensified focus to make the district drug-free and safeguard the youth from substance abuse.
