Sopore Police Nab Drug Peddler During Naka Checking

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police in North Kashmir’s Sopore apprehended a drug peddler during a naka checking operation at Maharajpora, Sopore.

According to a police spokesperson, a police team deployed at the checkpoint noticed a person moving suspiciously along the roadside. Upon seeing the naka party, the individual attempted to flee but was tactfully intercepted by alert police personnel.

“The accused has been identified as Latif Ahmad Lasso, son of Habibullah Lasso, a resident of Maharajpora Sopore. During his personal search, a polythene bag containing psychotropic tablets was recovered. In this regard, FIR No. 147/2025 under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and the accused has been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway,”  police said.
