

anthropologist: A social scientist who studies humankind, often by focusing on its societies and cultures.
biology: The study of living things. The scientists who study them are known as biologists.
cognitive: A term that relates to mental activities, such as thinking, learning, remembering and solving puzzles.
context: The setting or circumstances that help explain an event, some statement or some conclusion.
environment: The sum of all of the things that exist around some organism or the process and the condition those things create. Environment may refer to the weather and ecosystem in which some animal lives, or, perhaps, the temperature and humidity (or even the placement of things in the vicinity of an item of interest).
evolutionary: An adjective that refers to changes that occur within a species over time as it adapts to its environment. Such evolutionary changes usually reflect genetic variation and natural selection, which leave a new type of organism better suited for its environment than its ancestors. The newer type is not necessarily more “advanced,” just better adapted to the conditions in which it developed.
focus: (in behavior) To look or concentrate intently on some particular point or thing.
function: The specific role some structure or device plays.
infer: (n. inference) To conclude or make some deduction based on evidence, data, observations or similar situations.
physical: (adj.) A term for things that exist in the real world, as opposed to in memories or the imagination. It can also refer to properties of materials that are due to their size and non-chemical interactions (such as when one block slams with force into another).
random: Something that occurs haphazardly or without reason, based on no intention or purpose. Or an adjective that describes some thing that found itself selected for no particular reason, or even chaotically.
range: The full extent or distribution of something.
social: (adj.) Relating to gatherings of people; a term for animals (or people) that prefer to exist in groups.
sophisticated: A term for something that is advanced, complex and/or elegant.
trait: A characteristic feature of something.
