Uri, Aug 13: A soldier was killed in a fierce gunfight with terrorists after the Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of north Kashmir on Wednesday.

Official sources informed that troops engaged infiltrating terrorists in a brief but intense exchange of fire.

“During the operation, one of our soldiers made the supreme sacrifice while valiantly defending the nation,” the sources said.

They said the Army has launched a counter-infiltration and BAT (Border Action Team) operation in the area to track down the attackers.

Search operations were underway in the sector when reports last came in. (KNC)
