Poonch, Dec 21: Three street vendors stranded at Pir Ki Gali on the Mughal Road were rescued after their vehicle got stuck amid fresh snowfall, triggering a joint operation by the Border Roads Organisation, civil administration and police under challenging weather conditions.

Reports said the trio was travelling on the Mughal Road when sudden snowfall at the Pir Ki Gali stretch rendered the road slippery, causing their car to halt and leaving them stranded in harsh weather conditions.

The stranded persons later shared video messages on social media, making an emotional appeal to the administration for immediate rescue.

Sub Divisional Magistrate Surankote, Farooq Khan acting swiftly on the appeal, a joint rescue operation was launched by the 79 RCC of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) along with the civil administration and police headed by SHO Surankote Aejaz Ahmed Wani.

The operation, which continued for several hours under challenging conditions, culminated in the safe rescue of all three individuals.

Officials said the rescued persons were subsequently shifted to a nearby safe location.

Meanwhile, authorities have advised people to avoid travelling on the Mughal Road during adverse weather conditions as snowfall continues in the higher reaches.
