Jammu, Feb 22: A sniffer dog, associated with the Special Forces taking part in the Kishtwar encounter, that saw the elimination of three Pakistani Jaish terrorists on Sunday, suffered injuries during the operation.

The canine, as per the reports, trained in tracking terrorists and detecting explosives, helped the security forces in establishing contact with the hiding terrorists.

However, in the ensuing exchange of gunfire, it sustained bullet injury in its leg.

Despite injury, it remained with the forces engaged in operation. Later it was airlifted to Udhampur Army hospital for treatment. ìBrave K9 (canine) is stable and recovering,î it was stated.

Notably in 2024, in Akhnoor encounter in Jammu, where the security forces killed three terrorists, who had made an abortive bid to ambush an army convoy on October 28 near Assan temple of Khour, the army lost its valiant canine soldier- Phantom, in the operation.
