SMAC meeting held to review security scenario in Reasi

Jammu, Jan 8: A Subsidiary Multi-Agency Centre (SMAC) meeting was held at the District Police Office Reasi on Thursday to review the prevailing security scenario and strengthen inter-agency coordination and intelligence sharing, officials said.

The meeting was chaired by Additional SP Katra, Vipan Chandran.

A detailed and threadbare discussion was held on the current security scenario, law and order situation, Republic Day-2026 security arrangements, movement and presence of militants, evolving dynamics of militancy and possible attempts of revival.

Emphasis was also laid on surveillance of Over Ground Workers (OGWs), surrendered militants, missing youths, their possible presence in PoK and monitoring radicalization trends among the youth.

A comprehensive brainstorming session followed, wherein officers from various agencies shared their field-based inputs, intelligence assessments and strategic viewpoints pertaining to District Reasi.

While addressing the meeting, Additional Superintendent of Police Katra stressed the importance of timely sharing of actionable intelligence among all sister agencies to effectively counter anti-national and anti-social elements. He emphasized that coordinated efforts and seamless communication remain key to maintaining peace and security in the district.

The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to further enhance cooperation, coordination and synergy among all stakeholder agencies for ensuring a safe and secure environment in District Reasi.

At the outset, ASP Katra welcomed all the officers and outlined the agenda of the meeting.
