Slogan Row Triggers Scuffle in J&K Assembly; Congress, BJP MLAs Clash

Jammu: Proceedings of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly were disrupted on Friday after a heated exchange between Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators escalated into a brief scuffle inside the House.

The altercation involved Congress MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone and BJP MLA Yudhvir Sethi during the ongoing Assembly session in Jammu. The confrontation followed slogan shouting by Congress members targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which drew strong objections from BJP legislators.

Tensions further intensified after Sethi made remarks directed at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the verbal exchange. The situation quickly deteriorated, leading to a physical scuffle between the two MLAs before other members intervened to separate them.

Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes inside the Assembly, with multiple legislators shouting simultaneously, disrupting the normal functioning of the House. The commotion forced a temporary halt in proceedings as marshals and senior members stepped in to restore order.
