SRINAGAR: A court in Pampore has convicted six persons in two long-pending cases from 2017, marking a significant breakthrough for the local police in securing closure in the matter.

Officials said the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC) Pampore delivered the verdict in cases registered at Police Station Pampore. The accused were charged with offences under Sections 147, 148, 149, 354, 323, 506, 427, 336 and 447 of the Indian Penal Code.

After completing the trial, the Court awarded one month’s simple imprisonment for each offence to all six accused. The Court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of them and directed the payment of Rs 20,000 as compensation to the complainant.

Police said the conviction reflects the effectiveness of sustained investigation and evidence preservation. They said proper documentation and timely follow-up by the investigating team helped present a strong case before the Court.

The prosecution was led by Prosecuting Officer Noveed Sarwar Khan, whose structured submissions and handling of the case were credited for helping secure the conviction.

Jammu and Kashmir Police said the case outcome underscores its commitment to ensuring fair investigations and strengthening the criminal justice system.
