Srinagar: Intensifying its crackdown on terror networks operating within Jammu and Kashmir, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Wednesday conducted extensive search operations at eight locations across seven districts of the Kashmir Valley in connection with an ongoing investigation into a ‘sleeper cell module.’

According to a statement issued by the agency, the searches were carried out in connection with FIR No. 01/2025 registered at Police Station CI/SIA Kashmir. The case pertains to a sleeper cell allegedly functioning under the directives of terrorist commanders affiliated with proscribed outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

The SIA said the module was engaged in spreading secessionist propaganda with the objective of radicalizing and recruiting local youth into terrorist ranks.

The coordinated operations were simultaneously executed across North, Central, and South Kashmir. During the raids, officials said, substantial incriminating material was recovered, and several suspects were detained for questioning.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed the active involvement of these entities in a broader terrorist conspiracy aimed at propagating anti-India narratives, challenging the sovereignty and integrity of the nation, and fomenting public disorder and communal disharmony,” the statement added.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling the entire network, emphasizing that the operation is part of a sustained effort to strike at the roots of the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.
