Shooting stones force closure of Jammu-Srinagar highway

Banihal, Aug 26: Continuous rainfall across Ramban district on Tuesday led to the suspension of traffic on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) as a precautionary measure.

Officials from the Traffic Control Unit, Ramban, said that minor incidents of shooting stones were reported at several locations, including Chanderkoot, Kela Morh, and Battery Cheshma along the Ramban–Banihal stretch of the highway in Ramban district.

Officials said following the shooting stones incidents, vehicular movement on the crucial highway was halted at Qazigund and Udhampur to ensure the safety of commuters.
