Several Personnel Serving Within J&K Figure in R-Day Gallantry Awards – Alfaaz – The Words

New Delhi: Several personnel serving with Jammu and Kashmir based units and formations have figured in the list of gallantry and distinguished service awards announced on the occasion of Republic Day 2026.

Officers and soldiers from the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, Rashtriya Rifles units operating in the Union Territory, and other formations deployed in the region have been recognised for courage, leadership, and sustained commitment to duty in demanding operational conditions.

Among the awardees is Major Anshul Baltoo of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, attached with 32 Assam Rifles, who has been conferred the Shaurya Chakra. Major General Manish Kumar and Brigadier Mandeep Singh Dhillon of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles have been awarded the Yudh Seva Medal for distinguished service. Colonel Vishesh Arora and Brigadier Rahul Kumar, both of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, have received the Sena Medal for distinguished service.

Personnel from the junior ranks, actively engaged in counter insurgency and operational duties in and around Jammu and Kashmir, have also been honoured. Subedar Shamas Din of 6 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry has been awarded the Sena Medal for gallantry. Havildar Anand Suman Rana of 6 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, Havildar Maksood Deen of 1211 Medical Regiment, Naib Subedar Mohammad Iqbal Teeli of 12 Para Special Forces, and Sepoy Shabir Ahmad of 159 Infantry Battalion Territorial Army also feature in the honours list.

The gallantry and service awards will be formally presented at designated ceremonies as part of the Republic Day celebrations.
