Kupwara: Senior journalist Yahya Sultan on Monday participated in a plantation drive at Government Women’s Degree College Kupwara, where he planted a sapling to encourage environmental protection and promote greenery on campus.
The initiative, organised in collaboration with the Forest Department, sought to spread awareness among students about the need for ecological balance and sustainable practices.
Addressing the gathering, Sultan expressed gratitude to the Forest Department for associating him with the programme. He stressed that environmental conservation was not just the responsibility of authorities but a collective duty of society. He urged students to actively take part in plantation drives and other eco-friendly activities, noting that small contributions today could have a lasting impact on future generations.
Faculty members and students of the college also participated in the programme, reaffirming their commitment to protect and preserve the environment.
