Katra, April 7, 2026: After assuming charge of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range, the DIG visited Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Katra town to review the security arrangements on the ground, particularly along the route up to Bhawan.
During the visit, inspections were carried alongwith CRPF camps, Joint Check Points (JCPs) and security pickets established along the track. A detailed review of deployment at strategic and domination points was undertaken, with special focus on access control, surveillance, and area domination. The DIG also visited Police Stations Katra and Bhawan, as well as Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), Katra and JCR Bhawan. The DIG interacted with officers and personnel, reviewed functioning of the ICCC, CCTNS systems and also assessed operational preparedness of SOG Katra. Also held meeting with the officers of CRPF, Fire Brigade, Medical, Disaster Management and SMVD Shrine Board Authority.
Peripheral security arrangements around the shrine and adjoining areas were assessed to ensure a robust multi-layered security grid. Directions were issued to further strengthen inter-agency coordination, enhance vigilance and maintain a high state of alertness to ensure the safety and smooth movement of pilgrims.
The DIG emphasized the importance of maintaining robust security measures and seamless arrangements to provide a secure and hassle-free pilgrimage experience.
