Jammu, Dec 29: Layered security has been put in place across Jammu province ahead of New Year, particularly in and around sensitive installations and tourist places, in anticipation of a surge in footfall.

Security grid has been further bolstered while area domination operations by the join teams of Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and the Central Para-Military Forces all along the International Border and the Line of Control and the hinterlands have already been intensified amid frequent reports of suspicious movements besides multiple sightings of terrorists in different districts.

Anticipating maximum footfall of tourists and the pilgrims on the occasion of New Year besides the celebrations at the year-end, senior Police officers have issued directions for heightened vigilance with visible presence of officials and optimum use of advanced surveillance tools to check any suspicious movement and the activities of anti-national and anti-social elements. Notably the prevailing foggy weather conditions have added to security challenges.
