Poonch, Jul 4: Ahead of Seerat un Nabi conference, scheduled on July 7 at Mandi in Poonch district, Deputy Inspector General of Police in Rajouri Poonch range, Tejinder Singh visited the area and conducted an extensive security review. The DIG of Police was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch, Shafkat Hussain and Additional SP Mohan Lal Sharma. During this visit, DIG Tejinder Sethi chaired a comprehensive security review meeting at Mandi tehsil headquarter which was convened to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the upcoming religious gathering and to instill a sense of confidence and reassurance among the general public.
Addressing the officers present there as well as the civil society representatives, the DIG emphasised the importance of maintaining communal harmony, law and order, and ensuring seamless coordination among all stakeholders to facilitate the smooth conduct of the event.
The DIG, SSP, and other senior officers also visited Imam Bara Mandi, where they interacted warmly with members of the Shia community and local residents. They extended heartfelt congratulations to the community on the occasion of Muharram and expressed their best wishes for the peaceful and successful observance of the religious events.
During the interaction, the officers assured the public of full cooperation from the Police and other security agencies, reiterating their unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and peaceful environment for all religious and social gatherings in the district.
Later, the officers also visited Loran and Sultan Pathri tourist spots in the area where they interacted with the local populace, listened to their concerns, and assured the people of full cooperation and support from the Police. The visit was aimed at strengthening community policing and reinforcing the message that the Police is always accessible and responsive to the needs and welfare of the people, said Poonch police in its official statement.
The public widely appreciated the proactive approach of the Police and expressed gratitude for their dedicated efforts in maintaining peace, security, and brotherhood across the region, the statement reads. District Police Poonch remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the interests of the people, upholding peace and unity, and respecting the religious sentiments of all communities, it added.
