Search operation in Samba after suspicious drone movement

Jammu, Mar 10: Security forces on Tuesday launched an intensive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) following the suspicious drone movement during the intervening night of March 9 and 10 in Daboh and adjoining areas along the International Border (IB) in Samba district.

“The suspicious movement of the drone, which emerged from the Pakistan side, triggered searches in the area by the joint teams of security forces to ensure that there was no airdropping of any payload of narcotics or weapons,” officials said.

They added that similar joint search operations were launched in Lala Chak, Malani and other areas of Rajpura in the district amid reports of suspicious movement.

On January 10 this year, the security forces had recovered an arms consignment, including grenade and pistols, dropped by a drone, originated from Pakistan in the Regal forward area near the International Border (IB) in Samba district.

The seized cache, which included two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition and one grenade, was recovered during searches launched after on January 9, 2026, one suspected Pakistani drone coming from across the International Border dropped one packet at village Palura tehsil Rajpura in district Samba and moved back.

On February 14, 2026, in a major drug haul in Jammu region, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Jammu Kashmir Police, in a joint search operation, recovered approximately 6.582 kg heroin, worth Rs 40 Cr from the wheat fields in R S Pura sector along the International Border (IB) in Jammu.

It (heroin) was also suspected to be drone-dropped from Pakistan as it was recovered during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO), launched on an input about suspicious drone activity near the IB.
