Kupwara, Aug 18: Incessant rainfall and thunderstorms Monday disrupted normal life in border town Karnah of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, prompting authorities to order the closure of all primary-level schools as a precautionary measure.

According to an official communique in this regard by the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah, Zaffar Ahmad Lone said that schools from class 1st to 5th shall remain closed for the day in view of the inclement weather conditions across the Sub Division Karnah.

“The teaching staff shall remain present in their respective institutions and stay in contact with the concerned Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) to respond to any emergency situation” reads the order.

Residents from the area said that incessant rainfall knocked normal life out of gear and raised concerns about landslides.
