Schools Closed in Poonch After Land Sinking Alert

SRINAGAR: Authorities in Poonch district on Tuesday ordered the closure of several schools in Kalaban area due to reports of land sinking and worsening weather conditions, raising safety concerns for local residents.

An order issued by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Poonch said the decision was taken to protect students and residents in view of the “alarming situation”.

The schools directed to remain shut till further notice include PS Takia, GMS Kalaban, PS Mohalla Kashmiri, and PS Khaitan, all in Zone Mendhar.

Officials said the step was precautionary and the situation in the affected area is being closely monitored. (KNC)
