Jammu, Aug 16: Jammu & Kashmir BJP President Sat Sharma led party delegation reached the cloudburst-affected Kishtwar on Friday and undertook a two-day visit to assess the damage and oversee relief measures.
Sunil Sharma, Leader of the Opposition in J&K Assembly, and MLA Shagun Parihar had already reached the site soon after the tragedy struck and were actively leading rescue efforts, which helped save many lives in the initial hours.
During his visit, Sat Sharma interacted with administrative officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police, and reviewed the ongoing rescue and relief operations. He immediately facilitated arrangements for stranded people by providing vehicles to help them reach Gulabgarh and further move to safer areas. He also held discussions with the Union Home Minister and BJP National President, briefing them about the ground situation in detail.
Assuring the victims of maximum support, Sat Sharma said that, in addition to state assistance, all possible help from the Centre and the BJP would be extended. Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma praised the prompt action of Sunil Sharma, Shagun Parihar, the district administration, and all agencies working tirelessly to provide relief.
Sunil Sharma lauded the swift response of the locals, security forces, and relief agencies who worked tirelessly to save lives.
Meanwhile, Jammu & Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by its General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, convened an urgent meeting to review the situation arising out of the devastating cloudburst at Chashoti village in Kishtwar and to chalk out immediate relief measures for the affected families. As part of immediate relief, three truckloads of essential supplies, including drinking water, were dispatched from Jammu and Udhampur.
